Alicja Gear | Artist

Working from her studio in Plimmerton, a coastal village just north of Wellington, New Zealand. Alicja’s looks to explore the connection between emotion and place. With her expressive use of colour and gestural marks to build on the emotional qualities she feels within these landscapes, these works invite viewers to pause and reconnected. Serving as quiet witnesses to the living energy of the landscape. We often forget that we too are part of nature as our lives become more removed from it. Alicja has experimented with different mediums but is always drawn back to working with oil saying “I like the way oils behave, it suits my painting style and I like the way it holds its colour”.

She is currently studying her Masters in Fine arts at Whitecliffe. You will find her work exhibited with Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art in Wellington.
